Asarel-Medet JSC is among the leading companies in the Bulgarian mining industry and is the largest private investor in Pazardzhik region. Asarel-Medet JSC has an annual throughput of up to 15 million tonnes and the Assarel Concentrator Plant produces about 170 thousand tonnes of natural copper flotation concentrate with a copper grade of approximately 22%. The total volume of the mined material is about 45.2 million tonnes, including over 30 million tonnes of waste (processed gage rock mass).
The company has two cyclic conveyor systems for ore and waste haulage which reduce emissions from mining vehicles and a Solvent Extraction and Electrowinning Plant for cathode copper production which is produced as a by-product and an example of a circular economy.
